The structure that can earn your
big ideas stronger buy-in
Learn how to structure and deliver presentations that align teams and speed up decision-making — powered by Smart Brevity®.
Build presentations that drive clear decision-making
This workshop is designed for organizations looking to upskill teams.
The 2.5-hour workshop teaches the Fundamentals of Smart Brevity® and how your team can apply them to create effective presentations that prioritize key insights over rambling explanations and cluttered visuals.
What you'll learn:
- Fundamentals: A Smart Brevity trainer will guide you through the fundamentals of Smart Brevity, including the research behind the methodology.
- Execution: You will practice Smart Brevity through a group exercise of up to 15 attendees using communications from your day-to-day work.
- Advancement: An Axios HQ trainer will give your group live feedback, answer questions, and discuss where you can apply Smart Brevity in your broader workplace.
The workshop is customized to meet your unique business needs. We'll work with your team in advance to understand your organization, its goals, and your team's unique opportunities. The trainer will request samples of real presentations from your org, too, then fine-tune the session and exercise.

On the agenda
We’ll start with an introduction to Smart Brevity and how to apply it to presentations
— then end with an exercise to practice applying it.

Intro to Smart Brevity
An Axios HQ trainer will share:
- The fundamentals of Smart Brevity, including the research and psychology behind it.
- The proven techniques behind Smart Brevity and how to apply them when creating presentation slides.
- A relevant before-and-after Smart Brevity edit prepared by our trainer.

Hands-on exercise
Participants break into groups of 3-4 and do a Smart Brevity edit of real content from your organization.
-
Groups will edit the same content to see how they each apply Smart Brevity.
-
Attendees will need to decide the context, goals, and target audience of their presentation.
-
They'll consider what details are worthy to keep and what to leave out.
-
They determine “what's new,” “why it matters,” and how to style the presentation.

Expert feedback
Groups come back together to share their edits and get live feedback from our trainer and go into a Q&A session. In this segment, they'll cover:
- What was hard and what felt new and exciting?
- How did you decide on your "what's new"?
- What impact would this style have on your coverage?
- What barriers are there to writing this way?
